Garten + Landschaft, September 2019
You push the curtain to one side and enter the room. The floor gives in gently, the step feathers and a gentle scent of Stone pine is surrounding you. The walls are littered with flowers and blossoms, small and large, light and dark: white alpine daisies, light blue bearded bellflowers and glowing splendid carnations. Diffuse light falls through the ceiling. There is nothing else here, only white emptiness. You are standing in a closed room that keeps all external influences at bay and focuses on what it contains: an interior landscape, highly concentrated and sensually experienceable.
The installation "Reminiscence of the Alpine Flower" deals with the exhibition space as a place of memories of a specific landscape. This landscape is shaped by childhood experiences, recollections and feelings, which culminate with scenic impressions and natural and cultural phenomena to form a unique and emotionally loaded image. Three landscape elements — "The flowering meadows", "The feathery walk" and "The smell of Stone pine and Alpine rose" — are captured in an abstract way and integrated into a narrative.
The installation emphasizes the participation of the viewer: the different flowers can and should be picked. An identification sheet helps to identify the individual plants and imitates the scientific process of botanizing.
